Piano Lessons
Welcome to my studio! I teach highly motivated students who love to play the piano.
I focus on building strong technical skills that enables you to play with ease and artistry. The beginning years are a key time for developing a healthy and relaxed technique. Students will explore ways to communicate the messages found within the music, which is essential to an expressive performance. As a teacher, it is my goal to set you up for success.
I have over fifteen years of experience preparing students for the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Certificate Program. Many of my students have received awards and performance opportunities through this rigorous program. Additionally, I help students to successfully prepare auditions for music schools, programs, and competitions.
I also love teaching adult students- piano lessons can be a wonderful way to develop new skills and build confidence. Some students have played piano at various points in their life and may wish to refresh their skills and build their repertoire.
Playing the piano at a higher level can pose unique challenges to those with a smaller hand size. I am qualified to help students overcome these challenges with creative solutions that do not cause further strain or injury to the hand.
Piano lessons will include studies in music theory and ear training. Music history is taught in order to better understand the language and meaning of music. Through the exploration of composition and improvisation, students can learn to freely express themselves in original music.
Through studying the harpsichord, I have learned about period instruments and historical performance practices. (1500-1650) These studies continue to influence my approach to playing and teaching baroque music on the modern piano.
My studio is located in the Reading/Blue Ash/Evendale area, close to the Ronald Reagen highway. I teach on a 6’7’ Boston grand piano. The studio is in a quiet residential area with plenty of parking.

“Mari taught me for nine years; I began with almost no interest in the piano, but she found and built up the passion I have for it now. Her patience and resourcefulness is truly unmatched! She is an endless beacon of musical knowledge, and yet always knew which explanations/methods would work for me. Mari is a kindhearted, talented pianist and my biggest inspiration!

“Ms. Mari has been my piano teacher for over ten years, and I have enjoyed every lesson with her. I always leave class with constructive, positive feedback that I can use to improve in my practice. When approaching a challenging piece of music, she helps her students understand complex rhythms by breaking them down into basic parts, guiding us through the process of learning the notes. She always creates an environment conducive to learning and growth. Ms. Mari has helped me figure out the unique strengths and qualities of my own music, and she has even supported me in writing my own compositions. She has not only taught me the technical skills to excel in music but she has inspired my genuine love for the art of piano.”

“My daughter has been with Mari for a few years and she loves it! Mari is kind and supportive while maintaining high standards. She also is particular about finding the right method of learning per student, and I am excited to see how my daughter continues to grow this skill and art with Mari.
My son just started piano, and he is so excited. He wants to practice and enjoys his method book. Thank you, Mari!”
